Naturally Therapeutic
A Sunrise, a breeze, birds chirping, water streaming….nature. For many people, taking a walk in nature can relieve the worries of life, but for some people, getting outside isn’t an option. This doesn’t mean the people we care for indoors cannot enjoy nature. It just takes some effort and creativity to allow nature to penetrate the interior spaces. Here are a few simple ideas that I hope will inspire you to use nature to soothe the person you care for.
Remove obstructions from inside and outside the windows and keep them washed.
Install a bird feeder.
Open the window treatments to take in the sunrise, trees moving, clouds, etc.
Install a fountain outside the window or use one inside.
Indoor and Outdoor plants can bring life to a space.
Window Boxes with flowers give an up close view for people with poor vision.
Install and aquarium.
Plant a butterfly garden.
Hang Pictures of Nature on the walls.
Lastly, take care of yourselves, caregivers!! Go for a walk, sit outside, soak in some vitamin D as you sit in the sun.
Wishing you the best, peaceful caregiving!!
